On 27–28 September 2024, the FVA New Media Research team proudly participated in the European Researchers’ Night – LEAF (heaL thE plAnet’s Future) in Frascati, as part of the projects GenB, BlueMissionMed, and iCULTURE.
At the heart of the event, FVA set up the interactive booth “The Green and Blue Planet”, offering games, videos, and quizzes for both kids and adults. Visitors were guided through a hands-on journey across the worlds of green and blue economy, learning how to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle. A highlight was the facilitation and animation by the passionate GenB Ambassadors—Nicholas, Sewmy, Alice, and Davide—who supported all activities and interacted with the public throughout the event.
Among the most popular activities was the “ESCAPE4Future – Chemistry meets Circular Bioeconomy” escape room, co-designed within the GenB project together with high school students. The game ran 10 full sessions, with more than 200 players diving into puzzles inspired by green chemistry. The game was customized to suit different age groups, offering simplified challenges for younger participants and more complex versions for teens and young adults.
The booth also hosted the Bioeconomy Quiz, played many times by curious visitors. Winners of all ages received bio-based gadgets, including copies of the illustrated book “What’s Bioeconomy?”, which was especially popular among teachers and kids.
Adding a visual and reflective dimension to the activities, the BioArt Gallery—an artistic-scientific exhibition—presented striking visuals and informative panels about feedstock and bio-based products. The exhibit sparked interest and questions, giving GenB Ambassadors the opportunity to deepen the public’s understanding of the circular bioeconomy and how it helps tackle environmental challenges.
The event was a great success and a vibrant opportunity to share knowledge, inspire curiosity, and empower the next generation for a more sustainable future.
