“Our Blue Treasure” – BlueMissionMed’s Children’s Book Officially Launched at EU Ocean Days!

The children’s book “Our Blue Treasure”, developed within the BlueMissionMed project, was officially launched during the EU Ocean Days in Brussels (3-7 March 2025), marking a key milestone in fostering early awareness of ocean and water literacy among younger generations.

Aimed at children aged 6 to 10, the book simplifies complex environmental issues into engaging, age-appropriate content — combining storytelling with interactive elements like games, challenges, and sticker-based activities that make learning hands-on and fun. Even younger children can enjoy it with the guidance of parents, teachers, or older peers.

The book explores how daily actions affect the health of the ocean and waters, and in turn, how water well-being influences our lives. It’s more than just a story — it’s a pedagogical tool rooted in scientific accuracy and designed to inspire action and understanding.

The FVA team played a fundamental role in the book’s creation.
Authored by Susanna, Selenia, and Valentina, and brought to life under the artistic direction of Louis  the book was illustrated by Alistar Illustration, a professional illustrator who added warmth and vibrancy to the content.
From the initial concept to the final product, the process spanned over a year, involving extensive research, narrative development, validation by experts, and creative design.

The book is already available in printed form in multiple languages — English, Italian, Greek, Spanish, Dutch, Maltese, Turkish, French, and Arabic — and with an interactive online version, offering children the chance to drag and drop stickers in a digital learning environment.

BlueMissionMed is currently looking for partners to help distribute, use, translate, and support the book, especially in educational settings, informal science engagement activities, and teacher training programmes. A limited number of free copies can be provided, and sponsors can co-brand additional print runs. Express your interest!
