As part of its active role in the SUSTRACK project, FVA New Media Research successfully organised three major multi-stakeholder events that were pivotal in advancing the project’s objectives and shaping its outcomes: the INSPIRE Conference, the DESIGN Workshop Series, and the IMPLEMENT Workshop Series.
The INSPIRE Conference (November 2023) laid the foundation for cross-sector dialogue by exploring, through a multi-stakeholder approach, key limits, barriers, drivers, benefits and gaps affecting the sustainable transition. The event also analysed the existing EU monitoring framework, identifying critical gaps in indicators and methodologies for assessing the circular bioeconomy. In addition, participants reviewed selected case studies and discussed scenario-based methodologies and policy modelling developed within SUSTRACK.
The second major milestone was the “Pathway to DESIGN the Circular Bio-Based Transition” series of workshops (July–September 2024), which offered a comprehensive overview of four key value chains—chemicals, construction, textiles, and plastics. Each session presented process descriptions, market data, and relevant policy instruments, followed by real-world case studies shared by experts. The workshops facilitated in-depth discussions and resulted in recommendations for the circular transition, considering policy, environmental, societal, and economic dimensions.
Finally, the project concluded its stakeholder engagement cycle with the “From Vision to Implementation: Shaping Policies to Boost the Circular Bio-Based Transition” workshops (February–March 2025). These sessions featured keynote insights on sectoral transition challenges, the current policy landscape, and SUSTRACK’s proposed policy options for the four focus sectors. Participants collaboratively assessed the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities of these options, contributing to the formulation of evidence-based policy recommendations.
Together, these three events—INSPIRE, DESIGN, and IMPLEMENT—created a coherent and inclusive process that brought diverse voices to the table, ensuring the SUSTRACK project remained grounded in real-world needs and perspectives.
