The whole FVA Team participated in the kick-off meeting of the new Horizon Europe project CIRCONOMY – Unlocking the Potential of Circularity with Smart Indicators, held on 11-12 June 2026 in Rome and hosted by UnitelmaSapienza, the project coordinator.
The two-day meeting brought together representatives from the project’s 17 partner organisations for the first time, marking the beginning of a three-year collaborative effort aimed at accelerating Europe’s transition towards a sustainable circular economy. CIRCONOMY will develop a harmonised and operational framework of micro-level circular economy indicators to support municipalities, companies and households in monitoring circularity, informing decisions, and promoting behavioural change.
The kick-off meeting provided an opportunity for partners to exchange expertise, align expectations and discuss the activities planned across all work packages, including the review of existing circular economy frameworks, the development of a monitoring framework and digital tool, pilot testing and refinement, replication and scalability pathways, policy integration, capacity building, and project management.
Within CIRCONOMY, FVA New Media Research leads the activities related to dissemination, communication and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that the project’s knowledge, tools and results effectively reach and involve key target audiences throughout Europe.
Beyond the technical discussions, the kick-off meeting marked the beginning of a collaborative journey built on shared ambitions, complementary expertise and strong partnerships. Informal networking opportunities, including a social dinner in Rome’s historic Garbatella district, further strengthened the connections among consortium members.
With the project now officially underway, FVA New Media Research looks forward to supporting CIRCONOMY in engaging stakeholders, communicating its achievements and contributing to more robust, evidence-based approaches for measuring and accelerating circularity in Europe.
