20 September 2017 – BIOWAYS project was invited by the researcher  Paola Marconi at the ENEA headquarters in Rome to the conference “From tradition to innovation: from pre-Spanish Mexican art, a bioproduct for cultural heritage”, under the project  Grande Rilevanza Italia – Messico and in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The Italian-Mexican project aimed at obtaining more sustainable conservation strategies based on the use and enhancement of biological resources,  has allowed to develop products that are more respectful of the health of restorers and works of art with a minimum of environmental impact .

The aim of the day was to present the scientific results arising from the bilateral activity and to showcase the network of collaborations born within the project, which, starting from the preservation of cultural heritage,  touched also different themes like the agrifood, biotechnologies and bioeconomics.

The lead of the day was the Prickly Pear (Opuntia Ficus Indica) which, through the recovery of old technologies, is used and valued as an ingredient for the creation of Bio-based, Bioplastic, Biomass and other amazing and sustainable applications.
